Bengaluru: A road crash involving two bikes on the BGS flyover, in the early hours of Tuesday, killed two people and left one person seriously injured.
The incident was reported around 1.30 am.
According to the police, the control room received a call around that time about a crash on the BGS flyover on Mysuru Road. A police officer deputed to visit the spot found that a pair of two-wheelers had fallen on the road, and three men lay on the road, while one sat on the side.
Everyone was shifted to Victoria Hospital for treatment. Upon arrival, Akash, the rider of one of the bikes, was declared dead. His pillion rider, Mani alias Sanju, told the police that they were riding Akash’s bike (KA 02 KW 4546) and speeding on the flyover when Akash lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an electric two-wheeler in front of them.
Both vehicles fell on the road. While Mani sustained injuries to his left leg, Akash suffered injuries to his face, head, and legs. The two riders on the electric two-wheeler (KA 19 HS 9534), Afzal and Qasim, also suffered serious injuries. Their friends took them to a private hospital in Goraguntepalya for further treatment, where Afzal was declared dead. Qasim is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
Akash was a resident of KP Agrahara and worked as a mechanic. Afzal hailed from Mangaluru and worked in a clothing store, staying in Vijayanagar.
A case has been registered at the City Market traffic police station.
