Uber-Rapido bike taxi driver

A Bengaluru based bike taxi driver, in a viral video has claimed that his monthly income ranges from Rs 80,000 to Rs 85,000. This video has left netizens curious of the earnings of bike taxi drivers and the legitimacy of the numbers.
In the video shared by Karnataka Portfolio on social media platform X, the driver who works for Uber and Rapido said that he works for upto 13 hours a day to earn an income of Rs 80,000 to Rs 85,000 a month.
Astonished by the number the man taking the video responds by saying,“Itna to ham nahi kamaate, bhaiya!” (Even we don’t earn that much!).
Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Paytm founder praised India's tech-driven gig economy while sharing the video. “India’s new-age technology firms have sparked a revolution in job creation at scale, generating crores of well-paying jobs that fuel our local economy. These colleagues are building a digital services ecosystem that the world admires,” Sharma's post read. Sharma called them "members of Indian Digital Services." He quoted a song lyric in his post, “Hum hain naye, andaaz kyun ho purana?” (We are new, so why should our style be old?).
One users comment read, “This is the power of digital India!.” Another was sceptical, questioning the long working hours, “But at what cost to health and personal life?” Some jibed that they are considering a career shift.
