A user shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat detailing the incident, with many calling it a 'peak Bengaluru moment."

The WhatsApp text read, "Funny thing happened you know. I booked Uber and the guy who picked me up was a team lead at my office."

The senior employee clarified he wasn’t in it for the money. “He said he does this for fun and to kill some boredom,” the message added.

The post has since gained much traction online. While some questioned how idle the man was to spend time by being stuck in Bengaluru's infamous traffic. Others said the incident perfectly summed up the city's start-up culture.

“How do Bangalore people have that much time 🧐” one user asked.

“Being stuck in traffic for hours, to pass time? Sounds fishy!” questioned another. While another asked, "How can a team lead have so much free time." “No one drives in Bengaluru for fun. There’s something he’s not saying,” one user said.

Refering the city's hustle culture one user wrote, “Only in Bengaluru can your manager be your Uber driver, by choice.”

Another comment read, "When I worked in US, CEO of a large MNC, whom we invited to home said he worked as a server in a hotel without any inhibition and we were fairly surprised at that time. Here in India, it is a big deal. If this is true, he will make it big in life as he is hard working. Good luck."

Another user sharing their own experience with Uber's carpooling said, “I’ve tried Uber Partner. It lets people with whiteboard cars offer rides en route to work. Customers get a regular booking experience, just an extra message.”

Some users compared the incident to similar stories from elsewhere, “Peak Hyderabad moment as well.”
