Bengaluru: In a bid to improve electric vehicle infrastructure in Bengaluru, Bescom on Friday opened battery-swapping station at its office at KR Circle.
Dr N Shivashankar, Managing Director, Bescom, said that discharged batteries in EVs could be swapped for fully charged ones within two minutes, offering a significant convenience for EV users.
“The launch of this battery-swapping centre is a significant milestone in delivering fast, reliable and accessible EV services to users in Bengaluru. The facility has been set up in partnership with IndoFast Energy, which currently operates over 250 battery swapping centres,” he stated.
He added that the Bescom is planning to establish battery-swapping centres at 20 locations across Bengaluru.
“Currently, Karnataka has 5,871 EV charging stations, of which 4,503 are in Bengaluru Urban district. This year alone, 140 new chargers have been installed at 50 additional locations,” he said.
