Bescom team to visit US

Bescom General Manager of Demand Side Management, R Jaykumar said the distribution automation system will enable to cut down outages and ensure a single point monitoring  of the entire electrical grid.

A Rs 460-crore tender floated for the project is open to international bidders. The programme is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The DAS is scheduled to be implemented in Bangalore by June 2013.

Jaykumar said  KEMA of the US has been appointed as a consultant for the project and the company has insisted that Bescom staff should gain experience in the projects it had implemented. The consultants has been hired at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
