Bengaluru: The Kodigehalli police have arrested Bigg Boss Kannada fame Jagadish, his son, bodyguard and driver following a brawl on Friday night over installing the pandal, police officers said on Saturday.
Apart from Jagadish, his son Arya, gunman Abhishek Tiwari and driver Shubham were placed under arrest. They were produced before a magistrate on Saturday afternoon and remanded in judicial custody, police said.
According to the police, the complainant in the case, a resident, alleged that Tiwari had opened fire during the melee.
“We are verifying the license,” a police investigator said. “Prima facie, it was found that the suspect possessed an arms license valid in Uttar Pradesh.”
Police sources said a longstanding issue existed between Jagadish and the locals.
“On Friday, Jagadish objected to a few locals installing a deity pandal on the road leading to his house. This led to a melee where Jagadish sustained injuries. During this time, the complainant claimed that the gunman pointed towards him and opened fire. The bullet didn’t hit anyone,” the investigator added.
Several videos flooded social media, including X and Facebook, where Jagadish was seen arguing with a few locals.
Jagadish also posted a live video on his Facebook handle, bleeding from his nose as he was escorted by the policemen following the melee. He also claimed that his son, too, was attacked and sustained injuries.
“The gunman had no choice but to open fire. There is a need to change this system,” a bleeding Jagadish claimed in one of the videos uploaded on social media.
