According to the police, the two victims — both homemakers — were returning home after attending an orchestra. On their way back, the assailants, wearing helmets and riding a motorcycle, confronted them and demanded that they hand over the gold ornaments.

When they refused, the suspects swung a machete at them and fled after snatching chains weighing about 45 grams and 10 grams, respectively. One of the women suffered minor injuries to her fingers, the police said. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing. The police are also scouring CCTV feeds.
