Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Rural police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a BMTC driver with a beer bottle near Thyamagondlu on the city’s northern outskirts on Thursday morning.
Around 10 am, the suspect intercepted a Yeshwantpur-bound BMTC bus near Mahimapur Gate on his bike (KA 52 Q 6697). The man reportedly abused the driver, identified as Yogesh CR, and forcibly pulled him out of the bus.
The FIR stated that the suspect issued death threats to Yogesh and attacked him with a beer bottle. The bus conductor, Renukeshwara, intervened and stopped further assault. Renukeshwara then rushed Yogesh to a nearby hospital.
After receiving medical care, Yogesh lodged a complaint with the Nelamangala Rural police.
An FIR has been registered, and the suspect has been booked under multiple sections of the BNS, including Section 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from duty), section 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous means), section 126(2) (wrongful restraint), section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), and section 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
The police suspect the biker was under the influence of alcohol during the incident. "We have some leads and are actively pursuing the suspect," an investigating officer stated.
