Bengaluru: A Bengaluru court has convicted a motorcyclist, Dharman, aged 39, in connection with a fatal accident that occurred nearly five years ago near the Devarabeesanahalli bus stop on Outer Ring Road.
The court sentenced him to 30 days of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000. In case of non-payment, an additional 15-day sentence will apply.
Pedestrian killed
The accident took place on July 23, 2020, around 9 am, when Dharman, riding a two-wheeler from Bellandur towards Kadubeesanahalli, recklessly struck a 59-year-old pedestrian, Narayan, who was crossing the road. The impact caused severe head injuries, and the victim later died at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital despite receiving treatment.
The HAL Airport Traffic Police registered a case under IPC Sections 279 and 304(A) and submitted the final report after investigation. The 1st JMFC Traffic Court delivered its judgment following the trial.
