Biker mows down pedestrian

A 50-year-old pedestrian was killed in a road accident on Tuesday night in Yelahanka traffic police limits. The deceased was identified as Murthy, a resident of Yelahanka.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 8.30 pm when Murthy, who was employed at a travel agency as a guide, was crossing the Allasandra-Ballari Road.

 A biker rode his bike recklessly and mowed down Murthy. Murthy was tossed up in the air, fell down and suffered serious injuries. The biker fled after the accident, said the police.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Nimhans. He failed to respond to treatment and succumbed to his injuries at 2.30 am, said the police.

The police registered a hit-and-run case against the biker and are searching for him, said the police.
