The Jan Sangh, which did not fight for freedom of the country, was responsible for killing of Mahatma Gandhi, he said, addressing a rally in Bangalore organised by the Congress to observe death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

No right to criticise

Siddaramaiah said the BJP had no moral right to criticise the Congress’ efforts to tackle terrorism. L K Advani was the weakest Home Minister the country had. He released terrorists in the Kandahar flight hijack episode and that incident resulted in more terrorist attacks on India.

The BJP and RSS had been into dividing society on the lines of religion. The public would not expect social justice in the BJP’s rule.

Rampant corruption

KPCC president R V Deshpande, at a press conference later, criticised the government for holding celebrations on completion of two years in office. The achievements of the government would include sex scandals of the Cabinet ministers, firing on farmers and rampant corruption.

He challenged the BJP’s claim that the party won 70 to 80 per cent of seats in Gram Panchayat polls. He demanded that the BJP provide documents to prove the claim, while asserting that the Congress had won 55 to 60 per cent seats.
