Leesha N S, who was admitted to M S Ramaiah Hospital after the terror blast at
Mallesw- aram, was discharged on Thursday evening.

After initial treatment at K C General Hospital, she was shifted to Ramaiah Hospital for specialised care. The 17-year-old second PU student, who underwent a series of surgeries on her left leg, has still not recovered completely. “There is still pain in the leg, but it is bearable,” said Leesha.

She said she was happy to be back home. “Everybody at the hospital was very nice to me, but coming back home feels great. The change of room, the environment and most importantly, I am not surrounded by patient but by my friends,” she said. Her father said she still can’t walk without the help of a walker. “She needs support to get up and take even a few steps. The doctors have said it will be a year before she can walk like before.”

Though she has been discharged, Leesha has to make regular visits to the hospital said doctors. “She’s still on an external fixator, but she doesn’t need hospitalisation. She needs to come to the hospital once every week. The fixator will be kept for at least another six months and after that we will do a review and decide whether it can be removed,” said Dr Naresh Shetty, President, Ramaiah Memorial Hospital.
