The Rotary International District 3190 has made it to the Guinness World Records with most people signing up to donate blood within eight hours at multiple venues.
As many as 3,560 volunteers across 15 venues signed up and donated blood on Thursday. The Indian Red Cross Society (Karnataka state branch) and the Rotary TTK Blood Bank were the medical partners for the event.
The camps were held between 9 am and 5 pm at all the venues. The camps were conducted under the supervision of stewards and witnesses and followed all norms stipulated by the Guinness World Records.
Rtn Sridhar B R, director, community service, RI Dist 3190, said that every unit (pint) of blood can help make a difference to three lives. The mega blood donation camp will make a difference to the lives of at least 10,680 people, apart from the awareness it has created.
