New BMRCL chairman optimistic about Metro

 He replaces Dr M Ramachandran who retired from service on June 30. Speaking to Deccan Herald later, he said: “The Bangalore Metro project operations will commence as per scheduled timeline. As seen on Friday, public response to the mock-up has been positive and encouraging.”

Kumar, who is also Secretary to the Union Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, will hold additional charge as chairman, BMRCL and represent the Centre, also a stakeholder in the BMRCL. Kumar has vast experience in the Planning Commission of India.

The Union Ministry of Power, has also appointed R K Roy, chief electrical engineer to BMRCL, as Electrical Inspector. A notification issued by ICP Keshri, Joint Secretary to Government of India, states that Roy will perform functions related to all electrical works and electrical rolling stock in operation under the BMRCL.
