The Kannada Development Authority has sent a notice to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) seeking explanation for “violating the rules” by displaying signboards in Hindi. Quoting an article published in Prajavani, the sister publication of DH, the authority cited two circulars and the government notification on nameboards in shops and commercial establishments to note that BMRCL was violating laws. “This move shows unwanted imposition of Hindi and the BMRCL should reply to the notice within seven days,” the authority said.

Meanwhile, the opposition against “Hindi imposition” moved from the digital sphere to the world outside with the Kannada Rakshana Vedike calling for a protest at the BMRCL office in Shanthinagar on Friday.
