BMRCL land lease okayed

The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved BMRCL’s proposal to lease its vacant land to raise funds for Metro Phase II wo­r­ks.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra told newsmen that the land lease period would be for a maximum of 60 years, for commercial purposes.

He said bidders who want to take the land on lease for commercial purposes have to create parking spaces.

The lands available are: Yeshwantpur - 1 acre; Peenya - 5 acre; Jalahalli - 1.5 acre; Nagasandra - 14 acre; Mysuru Road - 6 acre; Banashankari - 5 acre; Baiyappanahalli - 8 acre; Swami Vivekananda Road - 2.01 acre.

The minister said it would not be possible to estimate the total amount that can be raised by leasing land.
