A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) shuttle bus landed in an open drain after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The incident was reported from the Wilson Garden police limits on Sunday morning.

According to the police, the bus was operating between the Chandapura and Attibele route when the incident happened. The covering slabs on the drain were taken off for maintenance work and desilting by the BBMP personnel.

Having lost control, the driver managed to plunge the vehicle into the open drain, instead of ploughing into the traffic. The driver sustained injuries, but the passengers escaped unhurt.

The police took the driver to a nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be stable.
