Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) distributed Rs 1.70 crore on Tuesday under the revised Group Insurance Scheme. Effective February 19, 2024, the scheme has increased compensation for employees from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for cases of death due to illness or other causes.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy presided over the disbursement ceremony, urging beneficiaries to use the funds to prioritise their children's education and safety.

The event also celebrated exceptional performance by depot managers, who were recognised with cash prizes and certificates for contributing to increased transport revenue during festive periods.
