Bengaluru: Azim Premji University will release a book based on a video lecture series by Jnanpith awardee U R Ananthamurthy at 6 pm at the Indian Institute of World Culture, Basavanagudi, on February 7.
The book, titled Sahitya Sahavasa Bhaashe, Sahitya, Vyakti, Chalavali | UR Ananthamurthy Maathukate, highlights the contributions of prominent Kannada writers, such as Kuvempu, Da Ra Bendre, Shivarama Karanth, Masti Venkatesha Iyengar, Gopalakrishna Adiga, P Lankesh, Poornachandra Tejaswi, Chandrashekhara Kambara, AK Ramanujan, and Girish Karnad.
It also explores key Kannada literary movements, like Navya and Dalit Sahitya Chaluvali.
Jointly published by Azim Premji University and Aharnishi Prakashana, Shivamogga, the book will be released by literary critic Narahalli Balasubrahmanya. Prof Sharath Ananthamurthy, Vice-Chancellor of Kuvempu University, Shivamogga, will preside over the function.
Prof Gita Vasanth from Dr DVG Kannada Adhyayana Kendra, Tumakuru University, and NAM Ismail, Associate Vice-President of Digital Content, Star India, will share their insights.
The event will also be attended by Esther Ananthamurthy and Chandan Gowda, Ramakrishna Hegde Chair Professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru.
As part of the event, snippets of Ananthamurthy’s video lectures on various writers will be played, followed by a recital of GS Shivarudrappa’s poem.
