Bengaluru/ Bidar: A 12-year-old boy was injured after a leopard attacked him during a safari inside the Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) in southern Bengaluru on Friday, officials said.
The leopard climbed onto a non-AC bus safari and clawed at the boy's hand, which was within its reach.
BNP authorities administered first aid and are checking if he sustained any other injuries.
Park authorities said precautions had been taken to properly cover all mesh openings, including camera slots, and drivers of non-AC safari buses had been given strict safety instructions.
Speaking in his home district of Bidar, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment Eshwar B Khandre said he had directed that all safari vehicles must have meshes installed on their windows and camera openings.
He also instructed that all necessary safety measures be taken during safaris, including giving proper warnings to tourists and printing cautionary messages on safari tickets.
