Mumbai: The financial capital of Mumbai and its suburbs received heavy overnight rainfall coinciding with Krishna Janmashtmi festivities on Saturday leading to water logging at several places.
According to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai received over 100 mm rainfall from 0800 hrs of Friday till 0400 hrs of Saturday.
While Mumbai City received 99.61 mm rainfall, the Eastern Suburbs and Western Suburbs received 142.80 mm and 144.57 mm rainfall, respectively.
The Mumbai metropolitan region districts of Palghar, Thane and Raigad also received massive rainfall.
Private airliners - Spice Jet and IndiGo has issues advisories about possible delays in arrivals/departures from the Chhattisgarh Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
There is no impact yet on Mumbai's suburban train movement.
In it's forecast, the IMD's Regional Meteorological Observatory said: "Widespread rainfall activity with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during the period 15-20 August 2025".
A red alert has been sounded for Raigad district Mumbai and Thane are under orange alert.
