The city witnessed another heart transplant on Thursday. The heart of a 24-year-old male who was declared brain-dead in the afternoon was transplanted to a 23-year-old engineer giving him a new lease of life.

The recipient came to Narayana Health City with dilated cardiomyopathy and physically very weak. He underwent extensive evaluation including cardiopulmonary exercise test to assess the requirement for heart transplant.

The patient is from economically backward section and the Andhra Pradesh government is bearing the expenses of his treatment. They had registered with ZCCK on June 4, 2016 and received the organ in less than two weeks time. This is the 25th heart transplant by Narayana Health.
