Sub-inspector Mohan and his colleague Doddasiddaiah, both attached to Wilson Garden police station, allegedly demanded Rs three lakh as bribe from Sridhar and his friend Prabhakar, for doing official favours.
According to Sridhar, who had been incarcerated in a property dispute case and released recently from jail, Mohan allegedly demanded Rs four lakh from him to stop ‘police torture’. Later, the cop settled for Rs three lakh, Sridhar said.
Student found hanging
A college student was found hanging at his hostel room in Vijayanagar on Thursday morning.
Vijay Mahantesh Hiremath, 21, of Hungund in Bagalkot district, was pursuing a diploma in the City. The police suspect him to have committed suicide as he was suffering from various ailments.
The incident came to light when his friend came to meet him. No death note was found, the police said.
