Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML) — which had floated tenders for the establishment of an integrated solid waste management (ISWM) system with a contract period of 25 years — failed to attract bidders.
After the tender was floated, Opposition leaders, including Union minister H D Kumaraswamy, had alleged that the contract was designed to loot public money running into several hundred crores.
“The non-participation of bidders is a partial victory,” NR Ramesh, former councillor said. He had filed a complaint against 33 ministers of the Siddaramaiah-government with the Lokayukta police and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for taking an “unconstitutional decision”. He suspected that the bidders did not participate as the ED is investigating the tenders.
