Bengaluru: A man and his eight-year-old child were killed after a KSRTC bus ran over them in Doddaballapura Rural police station limits in the outskirts of Bengaluru.
According to the police, the incident occurred between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm.
Venkatesh Murthy, aged around 40, his two children, and mother-in-law were on a two-wheeler on the Bengaluru-Hindupur Road, travelling towards the city.
Venkatesh reportedly attempted to overtake an APSRTC bus ahead of them, but the two-wheeler’s handle grazed the side of the bus, causing him to lose balance. They all fell on to the road.
A KSRTC bus behind them ran over Venkatesh and his eight-year-old daughter. Venkatesh died on the spot, while his daughter was declared dead in a hospital nearby. The other two escaped with minor injuries, according to the police.
A case has been registered against Venkatesh and the drivers of the APSRTC and KSRTC buses.
