Businessman lands behind bars for tweeting bomb threat

A businessman was arrested for tweeting that he would plant a bomb at a prayer hall on July 30. The suspect was identified as Syed Saifuddin, 39, a resident of Tannery Road.

Syed had a heated argument with Tarique on Twitter. Both of them had threatened to shoot each other with pistols. The quarrel ended soon after Saifuddin tweeted that he would plant the bomb at a prayer hall on July 30, said the Wilson Garden police.

The staff at the social media cell set up at the Bengaluru police commissionerate  noticed the tweet and informed their superiors. The Wilson Garden police were directed to take up the case and arrest Saifuddin.

Saifuddin was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to the tweet. He has been taken into custody.

5 held for robbery

Five young men who used to rob people on the ring road at night were arrested by the Kodigehalli police recently.

The suspects are Harry Pinto, 20; Mohammad Nayeem, 19; Prathap Kumar, 19 – all residents of Annasandrapalya;  Madan Kumar, 19, from Kadugodi, and Arjun, 18.

The police recovered Rs 1.50 lakh in cash, five stolen bikes and a dummy pistol from them. They operated late in the night and were involved in a series of robberies, added the police.

700-gram ganja seized

The police arrested Akram Khan, 25, a native of Ramanagar town, for peddling ganja to college students, near Impact Engineering College in Kodigehalli. They also recovered 700 grams of the banned substance from him.
