Joining hands with Lions Clubs International (district 324 D1), they marked the two occasions asking the public to light a candle as a mark of their willingness to pledge their eyes.

The function was held in front of the Forum Mall, attracting considerable attention from those walking into the mall on Friday evening. "On this occasion, everyone should take a pledge to donate their eyes. It would help several visually challenged persons to see this world," said Jija Madhavan Hari Singh, DGP, Commandant General Home Guards Director, Civil Defence and Director, Fire and Emergency Services, while addressing the gathering.

“We would like to spread the awareness about eye donation,” said P K Paul, Founder and Managing Trustee, IDL Foundation. “Kalam has been an inspirational leader who often spoke of human potential. There is no other day to address the issue of eye donation than this,” he added.

More than 100 visually challenged persons were given white canes. Film actress Pooja Gandhi was present. The IDL Foundation ‘blind band’ performed on the occasion.
