In view of increasing cases of dengue reported in the State, a special drive will be launched soon to create awareness on dengue and a team of officials from Health Department and BBMP will monitor dengue situation in the City.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Aravind Limbavali said a total of 2,430 confirmed dengue cases were reported in the State since January this year and 21 persons have died due to the infection. In Bangalore urban alone, eight persons have succumbed to the disease. Twenty-eight per cent of the dengue cases were reported from Bangalore City.
He asked the department to enlist the support of private practitioners to diagnose dengue and instructed setting up of centres for blood test ward-wise or at identified high-risk areas.
M Madan Gopal, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, said surveillance activities will begin to create awareness on dengue. The Health Department will rope in students from nursing college to be part of the awareness drive.
