On till July 23 except Sundays, the show of cartoon illustrations of Melvin strike you with their effervescence, reminiscent of the Asterix comics. The characters, he brings to life through an endearing marriage of pen and paper, overwhelm you with their playful renderings. There are no captions in any of his works on display, but the mannerism are enough to arrest your attention and interest.
Born in India, raised in Qatar and living in the United States, Melvin Mathew is an independent cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer and animator. Moving beyond the ordinary, Melvin recently opened his own ‘Cartoon Art Gallery’ in Dubai – UAE. His goal is to expose the art of cartooning to a wider audience and highlight the talents in the Gulf region and Internationally.
