Bengaluru: Bengaluru police cracked down on a drug peddling network allegedly run by a prison inmate through two accomplices, and seized contraband worth Rs 71 lakh.
On November 13, Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths acted on credible leads and arrested Fayaz Khan, 28, a native of Kerala. They seized MDMA crystals, hydro ganja and ganja. Based on his statement, police picked up his accomplice Gautam, 35, from Nagarabhavi in western Bengaluru.
During the interrogation, the suspects revealed that they had bought synthetic drugs from Kerala and sold them to a network of consumers. They received orders on social media and delivered the drugs to customers through an online logistics company, according to the police.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the suspects acted at the behest of jailed drug peddler called Amir Khan. Earlier, both suspects used to buy drugs from him, and after his arrest, they took over field operations and ran the network as guided by him, police sources involved in the probe explained.
Investigations revealed that Amir Khan accessed a mobile phone inside the Bengaluru Central Prison and kept in touch with his accomplices. However, a CCB raid on the prison didn’t yield any electronic device.
