These foreign nationals had entered India on various visas. But they continued to stay in Bengaluru after the expiry of their visas.

The police said that the detained individuals, hailing from Nigeria, Sudan, Congo, and Ghana, were residing in Bengaluru without valid passports and visas.

The CCB's Narcotics Control Squad, in collaboration with postal authorities, intercepted a consignment of narcotic substances worth Rs 6 lakh, allegedly imported from foreign countries.

The consignment included 10 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of MDMA crystal, 30 grams of ecstasy pills, and 70 grams of hydro ganja, the police said.

One Nigerian has already been deported, and deportation proceedings for the remaining eight are underway.

A case has been registered at the Kempegowda Nagar police station, and an investigation is on to ascertain who booked the parcels.

To intensify the fight against narcotics, the Bengaluru City Police Unit has organised a district-level meeting with departments such as the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The meeting aims to facilitate information exchange and coordinate operations to detect narcotics and deport foreigners who have overstayed their visas.
