Celebrating 'Fete de la Musique'

Recreating the way ‘Fete de la Musique’ is celebrated in France, Alliance Française de Delhi recently organised the same fest in the Capital. Translated as ‘World Music Day celebration’, the event has come a long way since its birth in France in 1976.

As a part of the celebration, 20 musical concerts were organised in more than 12 venues, including restaurants, bars and lounges in Hauz Khas Village. Since it was the second edition of the festival, many restaurants hosted two concerts consecutively. It gave the audiences an array of music, ranging from jazz, rock, sufi, psyche jazz, raggle, pop-Rock and house, to enjoy.

Through the day, bands like Then and Now, Rafaelle, Paryavi La Catenate, Space, Love for Sale, Charo Africa, Grivation, Dj Mojo Jojo, Adil Vasundhara, Jasleen Royale, Shantanu Pandit, Various Collective, Jazz B’stards, Shakey Rays. Ditty & Mark, Complicated Easy, DJ Danindie, Gunjan and Collective, Project made the crowd a part of their celebrations and set the tone for some great music.

Among all the events, Alliance Francaise began the celebration with a band competition for its students which saw the participation of amateur and professional artists, both. The bands who played at the competition were Horizon, Jamghat, Journey For Salvation, Des Gens heureux, Jazzmen and Prakrit. From simple piano music to rock and country music, different musical styles were rendered by these bands.

Jasmine and Prakrit and Journey of Salvation were declared the winners of the Fete de la Musicale, who will perform at different venues all across the country over the next 12 months.
