He is one of the top-ranked golfers in the world but Jyoti Randhawa is as simple and down-to-earth as one can get. In a candid chat with Metrolife during a golf tournament, Jyoti reveals how he accidently got into the sport, which became his career later. “Initially I thought of golf as a great way to travel but as I got deeper into the game, I couldn’t make myself to leave it,” he reveals.

With the sport taking a turn towards the Indian Premier League format, Jyoti feels that it’s about time golf reached out to the masses. “Golf had always been out there for everyone but somehow, there were not many takers for it. But now people have become more aware and at the same time, there is more money flowing into the game which is great news for us. Youngsters will get into the sport to make some good money while pursing their passion,” he says.

Jyoti is married to Chitrangada Singh, one of the rising heroines in Bollywood today. But when they had tied the knot, there was a lot of buzz about him stopping Chitrangada from acting and that because of this, the actress had quit her career! “Those were all gimmicks. In the industry my wife works for, ignorance is bliss. I have never stopped Chitrangada from anything she loved doing. At that point of time, we wanted to have a child which is why she had taken some time off. Now she is back to her career and I’m happy for her,” he adds.

Being a celebrity couple definitely has its ups and downs and Jyoti says that he is still getting used to them, especially the distance. “I do miss her when I am on a tournament. But that’s the way it is with celebrity couples. But every time she gets out of the shoot, we ensure we spend time together,” he adds.

He is not much of a movie-buff but quiz him about his better half’s films and he knows them at the tip of his fingers. “I enjoyed Desi Boyz. I felt Chitrangada looked amazing in that film. But my all time favourite has got to be Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi,” he signs off.
