Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel posted at the Kempegowda International Airport have moved the Karnataka High Court seeking provision of transport allowance saying they stay 20 km away from their workplace and find it difficult to visit the nearest market.
The petitioners contended that they are provided accommodation at Raksha Nikunj, located 20 km from their workplace. The nearest market to the barracks is five km away.
The petitioners said that due to this, they were forced to commute by cabs and autorickshaws, resulting in extra expense of Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,000 a month. They have contended that with no proper market or hospitals nearby, it becomes difficult to commute to these places during emergencies.
Besides this, CISF jawans face gross human rights violations where they are unnecessarily punished or beaten for not obeying seniors. They have sought transport allowance and dearness allowance with arrears and other benefits to which they are entitled. Justice G Narendra directed the CISF DGP to provide details of vehicles given to CISF personnel for travelling from home to work.
