Ganesha idol-making workshops are trending among the city's art studios as the festival for the elephant-headed god draws near.

Besides idol making, the studios and art groups are busy holding painting and storytelling sessions with Ganesha as the theme.

Among the events are 'Make Your Own Ganesha', an idol-making workshop hosted by Clay O Pottery Creative Studio, and 'Grow Green Ganesha' workshop, hosted by sculptor G M Chandrasekhar.

A city-based creative studio is also offering Ganesha-themed workshops ahead of the much awaited festival. As part of the workshop, participants will be taught to make an eco-friendly Ganesha, and create Ganesha-themed jewellery and abstract and figurative paintings of the elephant god.

"We're hosting a free workshop on Ganesha idol making. As part of the workshop, we’ll teach participants to make Ganesha idols with a lotus base, using completely natural clay and clay modeling tools from scratch," said Priyanka Tajpuriya, artist and founder, Happiness Art Studio.

The Little Green Thumb, a city-based home and garden store, is also hosting a 'Seed Ganesh' workshop for children, where seeds will be embedded in the idols.

"In the workshop, children learn the art of making their own clay Ganesha idols by placing seeds in them. On the day of the immersion, they can place the idol in a pot or soil, water it every day and watch it grow into a plant," said Monica Kataria, an entrepreneur and founder of the Little Green Thumb.

"Through this workshop, we are also trying to generate interest for gardening among children," added Monica, who is a chartered accountant.
