The city police recently arrested Bengaluru’s very own Robin Hood. A habitual offender, Vincent, broke into houses to feed the hungry in Tamil Nadu.
With around 60 cases registered against him, the 62-year-old Vincent keeps enough money for his need and donates the rest for ‘annadanam’ in a Church at Velankanni
Vincent alias David came to Bengaluru around three decades ago in the search of work. After working as a daily wage worker in the initial days he switched to house burglaries.
In his statement to the police Vincent said he would sleep in under-construction buildings and the city market where he would see many hungry people. This moved him to use the stolen money for charity.
He was earlier arrested by JB Nagar police in December 2017.
They had taken his fingerprints before sending him to jail. Within two days of his release on bail, on March 9 this year, he committed a burglary in the same area. The forensic experts took the fingerprints from the cupboard and found it matched with Vincent fingerprint.
Police later traced him and after interrogation, he confessed to his crimes.
