They will all be contesting the BBMP elections under the banner of Civic Front.
With an army of ordinary men, the Civic Front is a combination of eight political outfits comprising CPI (M), CPI, RPI, Karnataka Anna DMK, Indian National League, Dalit Sangharsh Samithi, Praja Vimochana Chalavali and Tippu Sultan United Front.
On Saturday, the Civic Front introduced to the masses its 47 candidates at Hombegowda Nagar playground at Wilson Garden. The participating political parties pledged that they will not indulge in amassing wealth but serve people in the simplest ways.
Speaking on the occasion, the state secretariat member of the CPI-M G V Srirama Reddy, said: “People of Bangalore have to choose between mafia and people fighting for the people through mass movement.”
Auto drivers to contest
Four members of the Autorickshaw Drivers’ Union (ARDU) will be contesting the BBMP elections from the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM).
The candidates are: H G Srinivasa Murthy, contesting from Banashankari Temple (ward 180), C N Srinivas from Shankar Math (ward 75), Rudra Murthy from Yeswantpur (ward 37) and M Venkate Gowda from Heggenhalli (ward 71). They are also office-bearers of ARDU.
