Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday inaugurated the first phase of Okalipuram signal-free corridor and a multi-level parking facility at the Freedom Park, which are half done.

First, he inaugurated the first phase of the eight-lane signal-free corridor at Okalipuram. This constitutes a flyover from the City Railway Station to Malleswaram. An underpass from Malleswaram to Rajajinagar was also thrown open to the public.

However, MLA Suresh Kumar reportedly said that the BBMP should have given some more time for the concrete on the corridor  to dry up before the inauguration.

But senior Palike officials claimed that only the first phase of the project was opened for the public use.

Some local residents also claimed that the inauguration was done in a hurry due to the upcoming state Assembly election.

Even the multi-level parking facility at the Freedom Park is half-complete. Right now, the facility is open for 34 four-wheelers and 50 two-wheelers. The entire project will have space for about 580 four-wheelers and 500 two-wheelers.

Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated the Church Street.

The stretch will be soon made free of vehicles on the weekends.

"We will conduct a meeting to make the stretch vehicle free," said BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad.
