Bengaluru: On the back of statewide torrential rain, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday instructed all district-in-charge ministers and district in-charge secretaries to visit flood-hit areas immediately and take care of relief work.
Siddaramaiah chaired a meeting with officials where he was briefed about rain-induced damage. He urged the DCs and district in-charge secretaries to take extreme care and handle these issues on a war footing.
The chief minister has directed Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh to convene a meeting of DCs, CEOs and district in-charge secretaries on May 30 and 31.
According to a press note by the chief minister’s office, 170 taluks have been identified as flood/landslide prone and 2,296 relief centres have been identified. In the BBMP limits, 201 flood-hit places have been identified, the note added.
“As of May 26, 45 houses have been fully damaged, while 1,385 houses have been partially damaged. As much as 99% of the monetary assistance has already been deposited.”
As of May 26, Rs 973.51 crore is there in the Personal Deposit (PD) accounts at the district and taluk levels.
