Passengers blocked the Bengaluru- Hindupur passenger train for more than half an hour here on Monday, in protest against the reduction of the number of bogies in the train.

The commuters said the train hitherto had 16 bogies, but it was now changed into a MEMU train with 10 bogies since Friday last. It was now becoming difficult to set foot into the train, the protestors said.

The Hindupur passenger is scheduled to arrive at the Sangolli Rayanna City Railway Station at 9.30 am. But it never reaches the station before 10 am. There have been instances of the train coming as late as 11 am, the commuter complained. This puts a lot of stress on those travelling to the city daily to work, they said.
