Bengaluru: A child died and three others were injured after hollow concrete blocks fell on them from a neighbouring under-construction building in eastern Bengaluru on Thursday, police officials said.

The deceased is four-year-old Manushree alias Paru. The injured are Shriyan (6), Shekhar (5), and 30-year-old Mamatha.

All of them lived in a shed that had cement sheets as roof. The shed belonged to Madhu, who was also living there. All of them were natives of Bhoragi village in Vijayapura district.

Police said the shed was adjacent to a building under construction near Chinnappanahalli. It belonged to one Srinivasulu, who had carried out construction activities without taking due safety precautions.

Between 3 and 3.30 pm, 10 to 12 concrete blocks suddenly fell from the fourth floor of the under-construction building on the shed where the deceased and the injured resided.

Manushree was declared brought dead at the hospital, while others continue to receive treatment at a private hospital where doctors monitor their condition.

Complaint pending

K Parashurama, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), said they are yet to receive a complaint, while assuring that a case will be registered.
