Constable caught while taking bribe

The Lokayukta police have arrested a constable attached to HAL police station while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a driver, on behalf of two other policemen.

According to the driver, who filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police, the policemen forcibly took his vehicle on April 29 stating that a complaint of attempt to rape had been lodged against him.

 They also snatched the vehicle documents and threatened to implicate the driver
in a false case.

 Later, the policemen demanded Rs 50,000 from him for releasing the vehicle. No case was registered against the complainant at HAL
police station.

The driver was not willing to pay the bribe and lodged a complaint with Bengaluru city Lokayukta police.

 A case was registered against the officials and a trap was laid, the police said.

Others absconding

Constable Thimmappa Raju was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant. He has been arrested. The other two policemen - sub-inspector Guruprasad and constable Hemanth are absconding, Lokayukta police said.
