The deceased was identified as Mubarak Mujawar, 29, from Belagavi, who was posted in the City Armed Reserve (CAR) unit of the Bengaluru police.

Mujawar’s decomposed body was found inside his room at the Adugodi police quarters on Monday morning after a foul smell drew attention.

“His wife has gone to Athani, Belagavi, for delivery as the couple is expecting a child," a police officer said.

"It is suspected that he died nearly a month ago, and the body had decomposed since. The deceased is suspected to have hanged himself,” he added.

The body was moved for autopsy. As of now, no foul play was suspected and an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) was registered.

Police are investigating why neither his family nor colleagues contacted him from the time he didn't show up for work.
