Bengaluru: The Basaveshwara Nagar police arrested a man for creating a ruckus at the station over the arrest of a conwoman, accused of cheating several people of crores of rupees.
The suspect, Yogananda (52), later turned out to be a classmate of Savitha, who allegedly cheated affluent women in the city after befriending them at kitty parties.
The police initially mistook Yogananda for a lawyer because of his attire, but later discovered his connection to Savitha. He also attempted to take the suspect’s house keys while she was in police custody, the officials said.
“He has been booked under the sections pertaining to assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),” a police officer said. “He is currently in judicial custody.”
