Two constables recovered jewellery, cash and other valuables from an autorickshaw after chasing it on early Sunday morning. However, the driver managed to give them the slip.
According to KG Halli Police, Dadapeer and Krishnamurthy were on night duty at Ramdev Garden. They spotted an autorickshaw moving in a suspicious way. When the driver tried to take a turn after noticing them, the cops started chasing the auto.
The driver stopped the vehicle, jumped out into a drain, ran towards the other end of the road and absconded. The duo came back and checked the auto. They found jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees, Rs 10,200 and other valuables. The cops suspect the driver to have stolen them.
Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji lauded the constables’ efforts and presented a cash prize of Rs 5,000 each and a letter of appreciation.
