The former minister is presently in Victoria Hospital, where the doctors have recommended a surgical procedure to relieve him of his severe back problem.
Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital Dr B G Tilak, who appeared in the court, delivered the medical records and results of his scans in a sealed cover. When asked if Katta needed to undergo surgery, Tilak submitted that the decision had to be taken by physicians and surgeons if the procedure of cervical discectomy had to done.
The Court had earlier granted permission to Katta for undergoing surgery.
However, the hospital authorities have been directed to provide regular updates on Katta’s condition.
The hospital has also sought permission to charge Katta for the medical expenses.
