Bengaluru: A 22-year-old daily wage labourer was found dead under suspicious circumstances in an empty plot in north Bengaluru’s Gangammanagudi on Sunday, the police said.

The deceased, identified as Nagaraju S, was a resident of Abbigere and originally from Sindhanur taluk, Raichur. His body was discovered in an overgrown one-acre vacant plot near Wimac Junction in Abbigere.

"The body was disfigured as stray dogs had chewed on it. We have shifted it to a nearby hospital, and a postmortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death,” an investigator told DH.

The Gangammanagudi police have registered a case under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) provisions for suspicious deaths.

One year. Third incident. Same spot

According to the police, this is the third body found within a 100-meter radius of the location in the past year.

In two cases, the bodies had multiple dog bite injuries, while in the third, the victim was murdered and dumped there.

The disputed, poorly maintained land is home to over 15 stray dogs and is frequently used as a shortcut by locals. The area also has four bars and restaurants nearby.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased, Nagaraju, had consumed alcohol on Sunday night and attempted to take the shortcut through the plot. The police suspect he may have been attacked by stray dogs.
