The police said that the daughter - Shreeja Reddy (24), a data analyst at a private company in the city - was suspected to have hanged herself at the family's house in Nagondanahalli, off Whitefield-Hoskote Road.

Her mother, Rachitha Reddy (48), discovered her body around 10.40 am. Numb with disbelief, she called her husband, Shreedhar Reddy, who was away at work. Shreedhar informed a neighbour and asked him to check on the family.

To the neighbour's shock, he found both mother and daughter dead. Rachitha was hanging and Shreeja was lying motionless on the bed. The family is from Andhra Pradesh.

The police was notified of the deaths a little after 11 am. They discovered a purported death note in Telugu by Shreeja, which said she was depressed.

The police suspect that the mother killed herself after learning about the death of Shreeja, her only daughter.

The Whitefield police have registered an unnatural death report (UDR).
