The South Zonal of the Metrolife Fashion Show was held on Saturday at Oxford College, HSR Layout. It was a grand affair with 26 participating colleges.
A variety of themes were showcased on the ramp, including some which experimented with both the western and ethnic categories.
Students pulled out all the stops to make sure that they stood out in the crowd and the result was a dazzling variety of designs.
While colleges such as APS College went for a strictly ethnic theme, with beautifully draped saris, others - such as Baldwin Methodist College - opted for the western category.
Many of the students designed their own clothes, something that impressed the judges for the evening. KLE S Nijalingappa College showcased a unique mafia theme and IBMR recreated some famous Bollywood moments on the ramp. The judges for the evening included actors Tharun Chandra, Kriti Kharbanda, Rajshri Ponnappa and model Priya Nayak.
They were delighted by the display of creativity that they saw at the show, remarking that it was very difficult to zero in on the finalists.
The students of Oxford College also added to the entertainment factor of the evening with a peppy dance, incorporating many popular styles, to a medley of Bollywood numbers. The four colleges who have pulled through to the finale, which is to be held on August 31 at Dayananda Sagar Institutions, are Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology, who designed a rural-themed collection with a glamourous twist; New Horizon College of Engineering with their beautifully draped designs; Oxford College of Science, who displayed a futuristic collection and Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, which stuck to a rich, ethnic theme.
