Environmental activist Saalumarada Thimmakka met City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar on Saturday, a day after a viral WhatsApp post had declared her dead.

Her foster son, B N Umesh, filed a complaint with the cyber crime police, seeking a probe into such messages.

On Friday, a message entitled 'Noted environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka is no more' with a photograph of her body on a hospital bed was widely circulated on WhatsApp. The activist, aged almost 100, thought it necessary to go to the police as she has followers all over the world.
